FAQs

What is the length of a regular school day?

School starts at 8:05 a.m.   Students should arrive no later than 7:40 to allow time for scanning and to drop off bags and coats in lockers.  School is dismissed at 3:10 p.m. every day except Wednesday, when school is dismissed at 1:13 p.m. There are usually after school activities or programs after school, and students are always welcome to stay after to complete homework or meet with teachers.  Some students may have schedules with different start or end times; contact your guidance counselor if you have a question about your schedule.

What do I do if I am late?

Report immediately to Ms. Vidal in the Main Office of Main Hallway.  You will receive a late pass and will need to wait to be admitted into class. You will then need to report to the office after school and stay late.

What do I do if I need help with homework or class work?

You should see your subject teacher immediately. All teachers are available for tutoring after school, and they will work with you to ensure that you understand the material. It is your responsibility to complete all homework and speak with your teacher or advisor if you feel that you are falling behind in your work.

Can SDC help me find a job?

If students wish to work at an after-school job, they must be passing all of their classes. If they are eligible, SDC will do its part to help them. We can assist students in processing working papers. Through our growing community partnerships, we can advice students on how to find part-time jobs during the school year and full-time jobs during the summer. However, we cannot guarantee any jobs. To apply for working papers, students should see Ms. Vidal in the office.
